I love this dress!

This one is a favorite of mine. For Heather's dress, I redesigned her mom's (lovingly handmade) wedding gown, which originally had a high necked lace bodice, long lace sleeves, and a straight, fitted skirt made from silk pebble crepe. The neckline became a scoop front and back. I found some matching ivory silk crepe to remake the bodice underlayer. I dismantled the lace sleeves and cut apart the lace flowers to scatter across a new sheer skirt layer (organza, gathered and full). The finishing touch--an ivory silk charmeuse sash informally knotted in the front. Heather was a good sport and did a little mini photo shoot with me in front of the beautiful doors of the First Presbyterian Church. It's steps from the shop--I walk by it every single day!--but I only recently noticed how lovely it is. At the last minute a stiff autumn breeze kicked up, so I also snapped a shot of the dress caught up in the gale. Love, love, love.

Keeping your options open

I am loving everything about the Macbeth Collection...from the votives to the tubs, to the vases and tool caddy. The best part is that they can be customized with the pattern or style you choose as well as with print or a monogram. Love that! Endless options!

These would be so fun to display drinks in or other goodies at a wedding or backyard party. They also would work great for centerpieces. Wouldn't you just love to fill these as welcome tubs too? I am just dying to find somewhere to use them. Any other ideas?

Real Wedding: Lexy + Jared

I have been dying to share this ridiculously cute wedding! My cousin Jared (so handsome, isn't he?) and his darling wife Lexy were married on August 16th. We are so excited she has come in to the family! We loved her the minute we met her...her happiness is contagious!

This was one of those weddings that as soon as I saw it...I had wished I would have been able to get in on the planning fun. The whole feel of it was so unique and fun. I felt like I had stepped in to a vintage prom and I loved it!
Each bridesmaid wore a different vintage prom dress. How cute are they? My favorite was the blue one that looked like little Bo Peep.
The gorgeous flowers were all done by my mom of Twigg Botanicals. I especially loved the succulents in her bouquet. They offered just the right amount of the aqua feel with the other shades of pinks and pastels.
Lexy and my beautiful Aunt Anne

Love this shot! Many Thanks to Brandon from Flint Photography for sharing these.
The room was so feminine and pretty. Opalescent aqua balloons danced above on the ceiling again bringing in a little vintage prom element.

Each table represented an important year....one in which their grandparents or parents were married, Lexy or Jared was born, the year they met, and what would be their 50th anniversary, etc. The Centerpieces were buckets filled with vintage buttons that held branches placed with hydrangea. Off of the branches hung pictures that corresponded to the year of the table. There were pictures of parents and grandparents in wedding gowns and pictures of Lexy and Jared through the years. it was so fun to look at each of the tables. I love interactive weddings like these! They are so personal and you feel like you are a part of something.
Each table also had a camera with a list of things for each table to capture. This was a great way to get to know the people at your table while getting some interesting shots for later.
This wedding was all about family...and what a great group it was!

maybe one of my favorite shots of the day by Flint Photography! :) What an awesome job he did. Dad's pockets may be empty...but it was all worth it! :) What a memorable day it was!
What a perfect ending to a perfect day. Jared & Lexy, I and am so happy and thrilled you found each other! Best wishes for a family filled future together. :) Love to both of you.

Hot and Bright Mediterranean Wedding colours

I just came across these photos on Brides.com and fell in love with the explosion of colours, such a wonderful idea for a Mediterranean or Moroccan wedding or indeed party. One of the most amazing weddings I went to years ago that I have always remembered was themed with these colours and all her bridesmaids were in different jewel colours carrying bouquets of anemones. It looked fabulous and was such a change from all the bridesmaids being all the same colour.
I hope one of my brides falls in love with this theme!

Lemon yellow weddings

lemon board, many photos from Brides.com, The Knot and Reviva Weddings online shop

Board from bestweddingsites.blogspot.com

Color trends for weddings are continually changing. As we start designing our weddings for 2009 yellow certainly seems to be one of favourite colours for next year.

Yellow is the color of sunshine and brings feelings of warmth and happiness to those who view it or wear it. When used alone, yellow makes an impact, when used as an accent; it compliments many other colors very nicely such as celadon, aqua, grey, particuarly dramatic with black and of couse the opposite of the colour wheel the mauves. Pale yellows are great for spring weddings, lemon yellows give a citrus punch to summer weddings and deep mustards are beautiful for fall and winter weddings.

We hope these boards will inspire the yellow brides out there for next year!

Poised and Posed: Andrea & Brian

So I have been having an impossible time narrowing which of these fun photos to share from our photo backdrop this last weekend at Andrea & Brian's wedding. Nathan Petty , a wed snaps guru really knew how to pull out a crazy side with the guests and I had so much fun looking through the results. Clearly this was not your ordinary group. The room was full of more beautiful people than I could count and they were all so full of personality and style. What a splendid night this was! Thanks to Nathan for having so much fun with it and doing such a great job.

This guy in the brown vest may look serious...but maybe you haven't seen him on the dance floor!...When the coat came off there were more serious moves than you could ever imagine.

Leo Patrone our Photographer with Jonathan Canlas stepped in for a little photo opp.

They definitely know what to do in FRONT of a camera as well. :)

I love that Andrea's friends are holding a picture of her. So cute.
