How to Get Creative With your Wedding Photography

Welcome back to the week, how was your easter break?  Today we are going back into the archives to look at some amazing wedding photography featured in Green Wedding Shoes.  What struck me about this vignette is just how lovely it can be to get a little creative with your wedding photography.  And it's not as scary as you think to get - why don't you talk to your wedding photographer about de saturated tones, creative cropping or interesting positions?  And don't be afraid to take a mood board of shots you love - it's a great way to ensure all parties are clear on what you want to get out of the day!

Something to Try This Weekend: Looking Down Pics

Looking for something fun and creative to do this weekend?  I've been taking alot of inspiration from Taylor Sterling the most awesome founder of The Glitter Guide.  She loves to chronicle her outfits over Instagram with an officially termed 'looking down picture'  Boy does she make some cute pictures!  I've been inspired to take some pics of my own when I'm liking my outfit so why don't you try getting creative this weekend and instagramming your own 'looking down picture'

Easy Ideas For Your Photobooth Backdrop

One of my favourite parts of our wedding was the Photobooth, I loved being able to play art director and pull together how it was going to look and feel.  Outside of the people, the backdrop is the most important part to give a strong photo.  From sheets strung together for a homespun feel to hanging fabric streamers for something whimsical it can be super easy.  If you are after a little more effort then think about mini bunting for a DIY look or masses of tinsel overlapping for a serious party vibe.  Whatever you do, project the kind of wedding you want!

Instagram at A Wedding

This is Patrick and Shelly's wedding.  But instead of it being captured by the super skill of a photographer these images are coming straight from their friend Mariah and her Instagram.  I've got to tell you that I am loving the vibe Instagram gives.  The day was overcast but you wouldn't know from these pic's - they are looking perfectly quaint and charming.

The Best Birthday Present - A Photo Book

Finding something to buy a loved one as a present can be hard. There are only so many civil war books I can buy my dad for example. A Cup of Jo had a brilliant idea for her dad's 60th - a photobook from Pin Hole Press. Looking at the website and Jo's pictures the thing that strikes me is how quality it looks - beautiful cloth cover, 98 pages for glorious images and its only $68USD. Jeepers Creepers. So good!

Amaze-ball Background for a Photobooth

Photobooth's bring so much fun to a wedding or party. But don't just think about the props, consider what fun the background can bring to your pictures too!  I'm loving the back drop from this   Ivy & Aster photo shoot - these vintage floral books have been attached to a backdrop to create an amaze-balls back ground.  The consistency in colour and scale ensures the back drop isn't too busy and it's as easy as ripping out pages of a book!  Would you do this?

An Example Of The Photography Style I Love

Lovely readers, the Big A and I are on the photographer hunt at the moment. Its been lots of fun searching out awesome photographers and the different styles from documentary style to the more artsy. This number from Stephanie Williams I reckon sums up the look that I love - capturing all the perfect details, that washed out vignettes and images that feel .... well ... happy!

Group Wedding Shots: A Great Idea

Well will you just look at this? I'm a sucker for a great photo op idea and this one is right up my alley. Brendan and Jennifer's wedding was showcased over at Once Wed and this pipped my interest. I just love the thought that people can come en mass to create something and it sure beats the normal 'everyone-together-and-put-your-hands-in-the-air' kind of photos.
