Glam French Wedding Interiors Inspired By Chanel

As soon as I saw these shots of Chanel's latest runway show I immediately thought there are some brilliant learnings to take away for a glam french style wedding.  So what's making it tres special?  Number One - the use of height creates a sense of grandeur. Ceiling chandeliers, high floral arrangements, mid height candelabra's - they all combine to create scale. Number Two - the colour palate. Creams, whites, golds and glass tones mix perfectly to create a luxurious palate.  Number Three - Opulent displays - Would you just look at that amazing food piled high?  Interspersed with flowers the display gives a sense of opulence.  So while you may not be able to do the Chanel version you sure can take a few learnings to apply!

2 Ways To Decorate Your Lawn At A Garden Wedding

Wedding's always get me when there are unexpected details that just take everything up to the next level.    So how about some ideas to get some decoration amazement at the lawn of your garden wedding?  There are some really simple ways to make it fun and make it impactful......

 When you have an expansive lawn its a great idea to create some detail and fun with a decorative item.  How about some oversized lanterns dotted around the lawn?  And for extra points, put some lighting inside so as the sun goes down your lanterns are going to put some glow into the lawn.

If you want a simple DIY that will have maximum impact how about an oversized pair of your initials? You could make these from cardboard, foam or wood - paint them to fit with your colour scheme or for some razzle dazzle cover them with glitter.

A New Way to Do Place Settings For Your Dinner Party

When we have friends over for dinner one of my favourite things to do is think about the place setting. Will from Bright Bazaar did an inspired Mediterranean setting for the latest Rue magazine. You know what I love? The postcard sitting out under the plates. You could apply this so many ways - If its a birthday dinner is it a black and white portrait of the birthday girl or guy? For a friends dinner do you do up a cute little menu card? Or for an Italian fiesta how about a vintage italian inspired picture? So many options. Eeee!

The New Way To Do Wedding Lanterns

Controversial statement: The standard lantern has had its day.  Bride's I am talking to are after something that hasn't been done to death.  So the challenge now is to take your chinese lantern and customise it to create a unique and special touch. For our wedding we stuck paper squares and mini paper flowers to give a fresh feel. Then, we installed some battery operated fairy lights so as the sun dipped the lanterns glowed.  They gave a beautiful mood and looked super special.  PS - For other lantern and pom pom ideas check out here, here and here.

Tissue Paper Pom Poms. I've been thinking about them alot since my last post.  Today, it's all about Pom Pom's en masse. You don't need to stop at an individual pom pom for your wedding or party, think about how they can be used in large groupings with lanterns and embellishments to create a focal point to die for. Amaze-ball Background for a Photobooth

Photobooth's bring so much fun to a wedding or party. But don't just think about the props, consider what fun the background can bring to your pictures too!  I'm loving the back drop from this   Ivy & Aster photo shoot - these vintage floral books have been attached to a backdrop to create an amaze-balls back ground.  The consistency in colour and scale ensures the back drop isn't too busy and it's as easy as ripping out pages of a book!  Would you do this?

Your normal wedding decorations are vintage, cutesy or glam. But industrial hmmmm you don't see as much. But maybe that's a good thing, because when you do finally see something its a cracker. A Wedding Decoration Staple - Paper Bag Lanterns

This simple trick is one of my go to ideas to bring some mood lighting to a wedding or party without breaking the bank.  Simply take a paper bag, fill one fifth with sand and pop a tea light candle in (IKEA do a brilliant 100 pack for $3.99) and then get ready to lighten up any party with a warm and soft glow.  PS.
